In a distant, forgotten land, resides a kingdom isolated from most of the world. In the past, it was ruled by a just king and a kind queen, however, after the queen's exile, the king grew more and more reserved. Despite this silence, the small kingdom was relatively peaceful and stable for many years.

Recently however, the king's reign became harsh: taxes increased and half of the population's food supply was to be given to the monarch. Compounding this problem was a harsh summer, leading to drought and famine due to poor harvest. The citizens of the land started disappearing one after another. The land was becoming more and more barren.

However, almost as if it was listening to the villager's pleas and despair, a strange structure appeared in the outskirts of the town and within it, housed a sinister energy. Terrified and weak, the villagers lock themselves in their homes during the night, in order to avoid the wrath of the evil aura.

One day, a mercenary living in a nearby town named Hector overhears this story; realizing that the troubled land was in fact his hometown, the young man springs to action. What awaits him in this accursed territory?
